Matthias Mitman

Diplomatic Affairs Specialist

Matthias Mitman has provided strategic leadership in managing global risk over more than three decades, as a senior national security executive with extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams focused on political, military, economic, and public affairs objectives. Among his notable Washington tours, he served in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Executive Secretary of the National Security Council, and in the State Department as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Nonproliferation Policy and Negotiations. During overseas assignments in Russia, Greece, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Honduras, he has worked closely with foreign counterparts regarding multilateral diplomacy on UN, NATO, EU, WTO and G-8 issues. Prior to his diplomatic career, he taught economics at Ball State University for five years. Mr. Mitman graduated with distinction from the National War College, receiving a master’s degree in National Security Studies in 2006.
